Attorney Liza Regina Galindo
Liza Regina Galindo, Esquire was born in Inverness, Florida. After spending the first six years of her life in Bolivia, she has spent most of her life living in sunny Miami, Florida. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration specializing in Management from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, where she graduated cum laude in 2003. During the summer of 2002 while earning her undergraduate degree, Ms. Galindo participated in a study abroad program in Seville, Spain where she studied Spanish literature and culture as a Romance Languages and Literature Scholarship Winner.
Upon her graduation from the University of Florida she continued her education earning her Juris Doctorate degree from Regent University School of Law in Virginia Beach, Virginia in 2006. Having a passion for problem solving and travel, Ms. Galindo during the summer of 2005 participated in the Alternative Dispute Resolution certification study abroad program held in Budapest, Hungary and Paris, France. During this program, Ms. Galindo was able not only to meet other future attorneys from around the world but also learn from renowned attorneys in the areas of meditation and arbitration.
Ms. Galindo is admitted to practice law in the state of Florida and is a member of the American Bar Association. As a law student she was able to expose herself to the different areas of law which helped her to determine and subsequently specialize in immigration law and estate planning. She developed her legal skills by working as a judicial intern, law clerk and upon her graduation as an associate for immigration and bankruptcy firms.
During the summer of 2004 she worked as a judicial intern for the Honorable John G. Fletcher of the Third District Court of Appeal in Miami, Florida where she practiced her analytical skills by assessing legal briefs and drafting case summaries for judges review as well as drafting legal recommendations and final opinions on criminal appeal cases. She was first exposed to Bankruptcy law as she worked for a law firm in Virginia Beach as she was responsible for filing petitions and responding to legal motions both in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases. It was at this stage that she learned the importance of excellent attorney client communication relations. Having the respect and great relationships with her professors, Ms. Galindo worked as a research assistant for Professor Lynne Marie Kohm, a renown attorney and author in the area of family and elder law. She was able to help her professor with her research of the Florida Medicaid process in preparation for the publication of the Estate Planning for Florida Residents book. Ms. Galindo began developing her immigration skills by volunteering at the Refugee and Immigrations Services in Virginia. It was while volunteering at this organization that she used her Spanish speaking skills in helping clients and became familiarized with the many USCIS petitions and forms. As she studied for the Florida Bar, she worked as a law clerk for a local Miami Beach firm specialized in immigration law. Upon passing the Florida Bar she worked for a busy immigration firm in Coral Gables. It was after working at these two firms that Ms. Galindo decided to open her own private practice and use the skills she learned from working at these firms and also learned the mistakes to avoid in operating a successful law firm.
Ms. Galindo is the second child of Rev. David Galindo and Esther Galindo. She has an older brother; David Galindo married to Linda Handal and two wonderful nephews, Gabriel and Mateo. She comes from a close Hispanic family that values a personal relationship with God as well as familial relationships.
Learning from the example of her parents, Ms. Galindo has always valued and maintained an active involvement in church by attending activities as well as volunteering to lead the youth of her church. Ms. Galindo has a great love for dogs and enjoys being the owner of two small Shih-tzus. Ms. Galindo enjoys spending her free time with her family, reading books, traveling and spending time with friends.
